Kids swimming gear by the pool: goggles, cap, kickboard and towel

Kids' Swimming Gear Checklist for Parents in Doha

Swimming is one of the best ways for kids to stay active in Qatar, whether at a school pool, a compound pool or the beach. The right gear makes lessons more comfortable and helps children feel confident in the water. Here is a simple checklist for parents.

1. Goggles that don't fog

Leaky or foggy goggles are the number one reason kids stop enjoying lessons. Choose goggles with an anti-fog coating, UV protection for outdoor pools, and an adjustable strap. Many of our kids' goggles come with earplugs, such as the kids anti-fog UV goggles with earplugs.

Tip: don't touch or wipe the inside of the lens, as that removes the anti-fog layer. Rinse with fresh water after each swim.

2. A swim cap

A cap keeps hair out of the face and reduces chlorine contact. Silicone caps are durable and easy to put on, like our kids silicone swimming cap (ages 3–12), and printed designs make it more fun for younger kids.

3. Training aids for lessons

  • Kickboard: builds leg strength and confidence. See the EVA kickboard.
  • Short fins: help kids feel propulsion and improve kick technique, for example the kids short-blade fins.
  • Nose clip & earplugs: useful for kids who dislike water in the nose or ears. Try the nose clip & earplug set.

4. For home pools

If you have a pool at home, keeping the water clean matters as much as the gear. Browse our pool care range for filter pumps, cleaners and chlorine.
